Since 1992, the objective of the program has been raising funds for the research and dissemination of diseases. Since 1996 the foundation of La Marató has been responsible  of managing the money, selecting the best scientific projects and financing the publicity campaigns of sensitization. In addition to the TV3 broadcasts, which generally  exceeding 12 hours of uninterrupted broadcasting, activities are held in the main Catalan cities, and  CD’s are sold with disinterested performances by popular musicians.
